Performance and endurance testing for shock absorber qualification
Define test conditions, sample count, acceptance criteria and changes in damping or reset behavior before making a durability comparison.
Define the duty and configuration
Identify exact model, revision, cap, mounting and stop arrangement. Record sample count, moving mass, impact speed, continuing drive force, actual stroke, orientation, ambient temperature, contamination and cycle rate. Specify instrumentation, calibration references and measurement uncertainty as appropriate. Maximum catalog values are not automatically an approved simultaneous test point.
Measure stopping and reset behavior
A performance record should connect force-displacement measurements with absorbed energy, peak reaction force and repeatable stop position. Record leakage, return time, return force and reset completion relative to the next impact. Allowable external drive thrust, dynamic reaction force and spring return force describe different quantities; report them separately.
Define endurance and failure before testing
Specify accumulated cycles and inspection intervals, plus measurable pass/fail criteria for damping drift, leakage, reset behavior, mechanical damage and stop repeatability. Record sample failures and test interruptions rather than only a final cycle count. A comparative life claim needs comparable duty, configurations, criteria and records; isolated catalog or maintenance figures do not establish a life ratio.
Published-result boundary
This is a method and evidence checklist, not a completed test report. It provides no achieved cycle count, service-life guarantee or cross-brand endurance ranking. Request model-specific approved results through the evidence and contact routes. Until those records exist, durability statements must remain limited to what the actual evidence supports.
Questions before ordering
- Can catalog cycle counts establish a cross-brand life ratio?
- No. Test duty, sample count, failure criteria, configuration and measured changes must be comparable. A maintenance recommendation and an endurance result are different kinds of evidence.
- What if the reset time is missing?
- Do not treat a missing reset limit as a passed check. Obtain a configuration-specific engineering assessment or measured record and verify that reset completes before the next impact.
