ACE MC, AirTAC ACA/NACA, SMC RB and EKD: replacement checks

Compare source documents and the checks needed for an industrial shock absorber replacement. Keep allowable thrust, impact force, stroke and repeated-duty limits distinct.

Compare exact configurations and a stated workload

ACE MC, AirTAC ACA/NACA, SMC RB and EKD EN are starting points for a replacement inquiry, not a universal interchange list. The table below describes what to verify, with manufacturer sources. No cross-brand performance ranking, price advantage or guaranteed life equivalence is established. Model-specific mapping, dimensional tolerances and operating approval remain pending engineering review.

A concrete example: SMC RB1411 repeated duty

The SMC RB catalog, printed page 1299 (PDF page 5), lists RB1411 at 14.7 J, 11 mm stroke, 45 cycles/min and 814 N maximum allowable thrust. 14.7 × 45 × 60 = 39,690 J/h is a calculated product of separate maxima, not an independently published hourly thermal rating or approval to use both maxima simultaneously. The 814 N thrust value must not be compared with an EKD peak impact-force value. Consult the selection procedure and actual operating point.

Why a longer stroke still needs review

A change from 11 mm to 16 mm changes stopping travel and potentially the final machine position, reset clearance and bracket layout. It must be labeled a dimensional difference. Greater catalog energy does not establish the same deceleration curve, effective-mass range or machine reaction force. Check the original and candidate drawings, not the similarity of model names.

When retaining ACE is the practical choice

Retain or re-quote the exact original when mounting changes are unacceptable, an installation function is unverified, essential limits are unavailable or qualification costs outweigh the proposed saving. Price comparisons require the same cap/accessories, quantity, currency, quote date, shipping and support responsibility. No current retail prices are reproduced here.

Source documents and outstanding checks

Source check: 23 October 2026. These are document references, not approved substitutions or independent performance tests. Retain the original document revision with each application assessment.

Family / sourceDocument scope and unresolved checks
ACE MC150–MC600Operating/mounting instructions, Issue 05.2022; exact code, application and installation functions require review.
AirTAC ACA / NACALinked source covers ACA/ACJ. NACA configuration and inch-thread specifications require the applicable NACA drawing/catalog; no NACA dimensions or ratings are asserted here.
SMC RBRB selection procedure and specifications; printed p.1299 gives energy, stroke, maximum frequency and allowable thrust as separate entries.
EKD ENPublished model records and available documents; missing mass/velocity, reset and installation limits need an application-specific engineering assessment.

Brand names identify the existing component and its source documentation. No affiliation, original-brand approval or universal interchangeability is claimed.

Questions before ordering

Is an EKD candidate a confirmed drop-in replacement?
No. A candidate needs separate dimensional and application checks. Provide the complete original code, drawing, moving mass, impact speed, drive force, cycle rate and environment. Missing operating limits require written engineering confirmation before approval.
Are price, lead time and warranty the same for every model?
No universal price, dispatch time or warranty duration is established here. Request a written offer for the exact configuration, accessories, quantity and destination, including sample availability, minimum order, shipping, applicable warranty and failure-resolution terms.
