ACE MC equivalent: an application-specific replacement assessment
How to evaluate an EKD candidate for an ACE MC shock absorber: full model code, mounting differences, operating limits, documents and a configuration-specific quote.
Start with the full ACE code
Send the entire nameplate code including suffixes, the original drawing and the reason for replacement. The existing ACE directory includes MA/MA-M comparisons; those records do not establish MC interchangeability. This guide does not assign an EKD model from an MC family name or publish an approved universal cross-reference.
Check fit separately from stopping duty
Mechanical review covers thread diameter and pitch, tolerances, extended and compressed length, usable stroke, cap and accessory configuration, mounting engagement and final stop position. Different stroke requires installation review even when a candidate has greater energy capacity. Operating review covers impact and drive energy, repeated duty, effective mass versus velocity, allowable thrust, reaction force, reset time and force, temperature, contamination and side load.
Build a model-specific technical package
Use the EN self-compensating range as a starting point for a technical inquiry, with the exact configuration selected by engineering. Link the proposed model record, revision-controlled datasheet, dimensioned drawing, available CAD and applicable test evidence. Effective-mass envelope, reset behavior and side-load limits must be confirmed for the offered configuration; values cannot be borrowed from a neighboring model. No completed ACE MC-to-EKD approval package is established by this guide.
Record the outcome and remaining checks
Keep four separate findings: mechanical fit; suitability for the stated operating conditions; required modifications; and information not yet verified. Pressure-chamber service, an integrated positive stop or other special functions require explicit configuration-specific approval. A successful catalog comparison is not machine commissioning. Retain the original component when a required function, drawing or operating limit cannot be established.
Request a quote that can be compared
Provide quantity, destination and required date alongside the technical brief. Compare delivered cost, accessories, mounting work, qualification and support terms. No saving percentage, replacement-life ratio or MC-to-EN mapping is asserted here. Engineering approval and the actual machine trial must identify their conditions and limits.
Source documents and outstanding checks
Source check: 23 October 2026. These are document references, not approved substitutions or independent performance tests. Retain the original document revision with each application assessment.
| Family / source | Document scope and unresolved checks |
|---|---|
| ACE MC150–MC600 | Operating/mounting instructions, Issue 05.2022; exact code, application and installation functions require review. |
| AirTAC ACA / NACA | Linked source covers ACA/ACJ. NACA configuration and inch-thread specifications require the applicable NACA drawing/catalog; no NACA dimensions or ratings are asserted here. |
| SMC RB | RB selection procedure and specifications; printed p.1299 gives energy, stroke, maximum frequency and allowable thrust as separate entries. |
| EKD EN | Published model records and available documents; missing mass/velocity, reset and installation limits need an application-specific engineering assessment. |
Brand names identify the existing component and its source documentation. No affiliation, original-brand approval or universal interchangeability is claimed.
Questions before ordering
- Is an EKD candidate a confirmed drop-in replacement?
- No. A candidate needs separate dimensional and application checks. Provide the complete original code, drawing, moving mass, impact speed, drive force, cycle rate and environment. Missing operating limits require written engineering confirmation before approval.
- Are price, lead time and warranty the same for every model?
- No universal price, dispatch time or warranty duration is established here. Request a written offer for the exact configuration, accessories, quantity and destination, including sample availability, minimum order, shipping, applicable warranty and failure-resolution terms.
