Working principle

Stainless steel cable bends and rubs under load, producing nonlinear stiffness and damping across compression, shear and roll axes.

Construction

Stainless steel cable, aluminum alloy or compact retaining bars, threaded or thru-hole mounting, optional bellmouth holes.

Selection notes from the catalog

Use load case, direction and deflection before choosing a wire-rope isolator.

Wire-rope isolators are selected from the catalog by the installed load, mounting direction and expected displacement. Use the product tables and curves as engineering inputs, then send the application data for review before treating a model as final.

Start with direction

Check whether the installation works in compression, shear or roll, or the 45° compression-roll direction used by the catalog tables.

Check the table values

Compare static load, maximum deflection, vibration stiffness Kv and shock stiffness Ks for the relevant WR or CR series model.

Prepare review data

Share load, mounting direction, available deflection, installation space and the shock or vibration environment so the application can be checked against the catalog evidence.

  • Provide installed load, load direction, required isolation or impact case, available mounting space and environmental limits.
  • Use the published dimensions and curves as catalog evidence; do not extrapolate missing models from similar appearances.
  • State whether the duty is vibration isolation, shock isolation or combined machine protection.
  • For unlisted conditions, send the machine data so engineering can confirm the suitable series and mounting option.
